mindfulness

Between stimulus & response lies a space. In that space lies our freedom & power to choose a response. In our response lies our growth & our happiness.

- Viktor Frankl -

the power of self awareness

Practicing mindfulness in daily life is not only about becoming calmer and less stressed, it's about becoming aware - Aware of your thoughts, emotional reactions, the stories you tell yourself and your physical sensations. All of these influence how you perceive what is going on in your life.  Remember you can't change what you are not aware of!

INTRODUCTION TO MINDFULNESS

We offer a 5 module Introduction to Mindfulness programme that introduces people to the concept of mindfulness in order for them to establish their own mindfulness practice, become aware of their thoughts & behaviours and apply stress reducing techniques that can help them through their day.

The modules include mindfulness of

  • the breath,

  • body,

  • emotions,

  • thoughts and

  • self compassion.

We believe in making mindfulness accessible to all, and recommend bite size tips for mindfulness throughout the day, not just a once off practice in the morning.

We run this programme for both corporates and the public.

We follow a secular style of meditation.

MINDFULNESS FOR CHILDREN

Right now, our kids have many reasons that they may feel overwhelmed and disconnected. Many of us find ourselves and our kids in unknown territory after the pandemic - we’re still navigating uncertainty and heightened anxiety, often caused by worrying about the future and stressful challenges in our kid’s daily lives and in our own lives too.

When we or our kids feel threatened by something real or perceived (like worrying about what might happen) our brain goes into limbic highjack meaning our rational thinking mind goes offline,  and we react with fight, flight or freeze.  These responses are really helpful when faced with a big scary snake, but unhelpful when we’re trying to prepare for a test or do homework and we struggle to access our logical reasoning, planning and creativity.

A regular mindfulness practice can assist with bringing the rational mind back online, helping to improve focus and bring us out of autopilot and into the aliveness of the moment.
